Tabitha from Jersey Shore Ghost Tours

Beginning Friday, August 7th, 2009, the nighttime streets of Red Bank will be shrouded with the mystery and intrigue of haunted history. Accompanied by the spirits of days gone by, Jersey Shore Ghost Tours will be bringing the past to life with the start of the Red Bank Ghost Tours, a walking lantern tour of spots in downtown Red Bank that are said to be inhabited and haunted by other worldly beings.

Jersey Shore Ghost Tours was started in 2006 by Tabitha, a woman who had developed a fascination with ghost tours in other cities such as Gettysburg, Virginia and New Hope, Pennsylvania. Inspired by the charm and different perspective of a town that a ghost tour gives a visitor or even a long time resident, Tabitha began looking into the history of Keyport, NJ to see if it had potential to become a spot for a ghost tours. She concentrated on researching the business side of her idea, and her husband got to work on digging up some interesting and eerie history. The research turned up a wealth of information and became a sort of treasure hunt for the couple, with each new document or piece of information that they found leading them deeper and deeper into the haunted history of Keyport. Since then, Jersey Shore Ghost Tours has allowed people to take a step back in time every Saturday night with the Keyport Ghost Tours. The tours have developed a “cult-like” reputation and enjoy many repeat customers every week. The tours in Keyport run every Saturday in August and more nights are usually added during the popular Halloween season.

With the success of the Keyport Ghost Tours, Tabitha was inspired to start researching the haunted history of other towns in New Jersey. She stumbled on a book entitled Murders in Monmouth, and the idea for Red Bank Ghost Tours was born. The walking lantern tours, which commence on Friday, August 7th, will take place every Friday throughout August and September. In October, the tours will be held on Friday and Saturday nights. The tour begins and ends at the Dublin House on Monmouth Street, one of the most haunted spots in Red Bank. The tour highlights places throughout Monmouth and Broad Street. People interested in taking the tour should arrive at the Dublin House, 30 Monmouth Street by 8:00 pm to purchase tickets. Tickets are $12 for adults and children ten and under pay $10. The tour starts promptly at 8:30 pm and lasts approximately one hour. More information can be found at www.jerseyshoreghosttours.com.
