The jazz trio the Al Wright Unit will be performing Thursday April 23rd at the Eisner Memorial Library from 7:30-9:00pm.
The Count Basie will be hosting a workshop entitled, "Back to the Basics: Country Songwriting Techniques" for aspiring country songwriters on April 23rd and April 30th at 8:30pm. The class which will be taught by award winning singer and composer Mark Miklos will teach the basics of songwriting including themes, rhyming, structure, and creating hooks.

The festival will be happening on Sunday, May 3rd at 10am at Monmouth University. Tickets are $10 per person for the full day.

The official dedication of "Unity Way" will be taking place May 6th between 5 and 7pm in the parking lot of the upper Montgomery Terrace housing location.
The Count Basie Theatre will be screening the classic John Hughes film, "Pretty in Pink" on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 6:00pm. Following the feature, at 9:30pm at the Broadway Diner, a special "Pink Carpet" event is planned for 100 girls (14 or older).
The Downtown will be host to a "girls night out", so get your friends together and head out for cocktails, good food, and a good cause. Tickets are $50 a person and the event is open to all women 21 years or older.
Dana Cowin, Editor in Chief of Food & Wine magazine, promises a night of inspiration, conversation, cocktails, soul food, and good music at a 70's laden event that honors breast cancer survivors. The event will take place at 7pm on May 7th at the Children's Cultural Center.

One of Red Bank’s most notable citizens, William “Count” Basie, a pioneer of swing music, was born in Red Bank in 1903 and remembered his hometown when he recorded the “The Kid From Red Bank.” A bronze bust of Count Basie, sculpted by noted NJ artist, Brian Hanlon, has been housed at the Visitors Center at the Red Bank Train Station for the last few years.
