He's Back ....Just to Visit
One of Red Bank's most charismatic and visible personalities in the 90's was restaurant owner Carlos O'Connor. And while Carlos is no longer a regular fixture in Red Bank, it was good to see him again around town, if only for a visit.
Carlos, a Rahway native, opened the 1st "Carlos O'Connors" location in Rahway but eventually ended up bringing his unique restaurant to Red Bank on the recommendation of Borough Clerk Carol Vivona.
For a decade, Carlos, in his trademark brimmed hat, was an ever-present fixture about town. It was also rumored that he was the famed "Mad Merchant" of Tri City News (though never confirmed).
To the business community, he was always walking about town and saying hello to fellow merchants (and one of RedBank.Com's first advertisers --ed.).
Though retired now, Carlos came back to visit Red Bank the other day ... great fun to see you Señor Carlos.

My name is David Prown and I am the 3rd generation owner of Prown's Home Improvements here in Red Bank. I have been working in the family business since 1989. I spend a couple hours every day volunteering with a specific emphasis on the underdog youth of Red Bank. It is my passion, my calling, and my gift to Red Bank. I can't get enough of giving back and not giving up. This blog allows me share with fellow Red Bank enthusiasts my passion for this town.
