Pajamas in School? Cool!

by David Prown

Yesterday, March 2nd was the National Education Associations (NEA) Read Across America
Day. And it was celebrated with vigor at the Red Bank Primary School including allowing
any kid who wanted to where their pajamas to school on that day.

I was fortunate to be one of the approximate 25 guest speakers invited in by the school
to read to two (2) classes.

Although, no doubt, Dr. Suess books were the most popular of the day and special guest
"The Cat in Hat" a.k.a. music teacher Mrs. Boehm was a huge hit.

I brought in and read my 43rd year old favorite childhood book "The Flying Hockey Stick" by Jolly Roger Bradfield that I read every year. I read to Mrs. Repko's great 2nd grade class then to Mrs. Proper's terrific 3rd grade class.

Throughout the day, several of the classes got to experience a teleconference with Mother
Seton's Regional High School. That's a story for another day.

For lunch, the kids got to experience Green Eggs and Ham, literally.

I'm going to invite myself next to that for sure.

Good stuff and lots of fun. Thank you Dr. Fontenez and Mr. Cohen for remembering to
invite me every year
