RBR Principal Resigns and Superintendent Retires
Quite an up and down day for the Red Bank Regional community. The Asbury Park Press ran a feature story on retiring Superintendent Dr. Edward Westervelt, a feature that was well deserved as he has really ramped up the academics at the school.
Last week saw the formal welcoming/reception for incoming Superintendent Howard Lucks who
starts next month. Today, word broke, not surprisingly, that current Principal, and Superintendent finalist, Jim Stefankiewicz has resigned (effective next month) and is moving to Middletown as Assistant Superintendent.
Mr. Stefankiewicz, who has been at Red Bank Regional for 3 1/2, made it very clear even when interviewing for the Principal's position at Red Bank Regional that his goal was to be a Superintendent within 5 Years. Hence his decision to leave when not selected at Red Bank Regional.
He brought in some real vision and programs to Red Bank Regional and will be missed. The Red Bank Regional Board has its reasons for selecting Mr. Lucks and here's hoping that the best days are ahead for the school.
