Dangerous intersection in Red Bank being worked on

by David Prown

There have been discussions and studies for at least a decade, though I'm sure more, regarding the very dangerous intersection at Maple, White, and Wall St. (The Rite Aid Plaza). It appears now a solution may be in the works.

The problem with this particular spot is that the two facing streets (Wall and White) are not aligned across from each other which causes a multitude of problems (see picture). The backlogs, road rages, accidents, near misses etc. that occur here are a regular occurrence so I'm glad a fix is on the way.

I don't know the particulars of what they are doing, but trust that after all these years the agencies involved know what they are doing and that the light to be installed will significantly improve the situation.

Similar situations have been fixed by such measures, for instance the installation of the 4 way stop at St. Anthony's church (corner of Chestnut and Bridge) have made it a MUCH safer intersection as well as reducing the traffic build up.

It may be disruptive while they are doing the work, but at the end of the day it will be
safer, and that is most important
